Create a UTM Parameter Link
A UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) parameter link is a snippet of text added to the end of a URL to track the metrics and performance of a specific testing campaign. UTM codes can contain up to five parameters: Campaign, source, medium, content, and term.
A UTM link helps you track the effectiveness of your testing campaigns by feeding detailed campaign data into the web analytics tool, GA4 and posting your testing campaigns' conversion/action events back to GA4.
Step 1:
Create your UTM-tagged link by going to the campaign-url-builder page:
https://ga-dev-tools.google/campaign-url-builder
Step 2:
In this campaign-url-builder page, enter the website URL and campaign information as shown below:
Enter your website landing page URL in the 'website URL' field, such as: https://leanmarkettesting.com.
Enter the channel you are testing in the 'campaign source' field, such as: Instagram.
Enter the "approach (prospect or action/conversion type) and metrics" for your testing campaign in the 'campaign medium' field, input the , such as Conversion_CostPerSignup.
Enter the campaign name in the 'campaign name' field.
Enter the campaign ad group name in the 'campaign term' field, such as the audience segments
or keyword topics you are testing.
Enter the creative messaging version you are testing in the 'campaign content' field, such as
creativeV1.
Step 3:
Copy the generated campaign URL as shown below.
Step 4:
Copy this link and paste it into the landing page destination of your advertising creative.
